SMART 1 was an ESA satellite with the mission to orbit the moon. "SMART" stands for Small Missions for Advanced Research in Technology. The satellite was launched on 9th September 2006 from Guiana Space Centre and its mission ended on 3rd September 2007 by deliberately crashing the satellite into the Moon's surface.
The EPDP instrument (Electric Propulsion Diagnostic Package) was to acquire data on the new propulsion system on SMART-1. The CSRC part on this project consisted of the interface reconstruction from RS-232 to CAN bus, including: development, design, analyses, manufacture, testing, delivery and support in integration.
